Interview in English on JAZZESPRESSO Network:
- Jeremy Pelt in a few words !
Jeremy Pelt is music.
- what made you desire to be a jazz musician ?
The first time I heard Miles Davis, I was hooked.
- what is jazz today in your opinion?
Jazz is but a word. “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”
- How do you choose the repertoire and the musicians to play with?
If I’m playing what are known as “standards” , I tend to look for songs that have not been performed too much. That way I might have a chance to perform them without expectation or influence of a past artist. Otherwise, I write all my own material. As for musicians, I like young talent that have “big ears” and really know how to listen!
