Il trentenne Theo Croker è uno dei più interessanti trombettisti jazz di oggi, nipote del leggendario trombettista Doc Cheatham. A Shanghai Theo incontrò per la prima volta Dee Dee Bridgewater, che fu così impressionata dal giovane trombettista da decidere di produrre il suo album.
